Dan was on our ward's basketball team (Aspen 11th Ward) this past month. 2 weeks ago they played in the stake tournament hoping to move on to regionals. Their first game was a forfeit, then they lost the second game. They were a wild card team and made it into regionals. Last Saturday we went with high hopes to this semi-final game. Our ward put all the best players on one team hoping the ward to go far. We showed up at 9pm to find out that the games were an hour behind. Finally at 10pm they guys got on the court. It started out even, but then the second string came in and the other ward pulled ahead. The starters (Dan) came back in and tried to close the gap. As the night went on the gap stayed the same, but tempers started to rise. No fights broke out, but the refs didn't put up with anything and started calling T's which frustrated the guys which led to more T's then the game was finally called with 1:42 left in the game and the other team in the lead. I am guessing the prayer at the beginning didn't help too much... and the fact that the ref that called the game was a member of the ward that we were playing.... better luck next year!!
